Abolishment of the Colorado Death Penalty Vote Delayed

DENVER (AP) — The House Judiciary Committee has heard some nine hours of emotional testimony on a bill to abolish the death penalty in Colorado, but delayed a vote on the measure.

The bill would not affect current cases, including that of the Aurora movie theater shooting suspect, nor three men who currently sit on Colorado's death row.

Among those testifying yesterday was the sister of a man who was killed to prevent him from testifying in a murder trial, and the father of a murdered corrections officer.
