Even with this unusual pandemic going on there are still lots of beautiful things to do and areas to explore in Colorado. This past weekend my wife Savannah and I headed out on a new adventure, one that we both have wanted to do but never made it happen, until now. We took the fairly easy three-hour drive down to the Rockwood Depot just about 10 minutes North of Durango, Colorado to ride on the Silverton Durango Railroad.

Along the way, we stopped in Montrose for a great cup of coffee at The Coffee Trader, and on the way home, we stopped for a good meal at Gold Belt Bar & Grill in Ouray. The whole trip from beginning to end was fantastic but riding on my first train at 34 years old was a lot of fun.

Before boarding the train we got a short history lesson on the trains while enjoying concessions available for purchase including mixed drinks, mimosa's, beers,  sodas,  and snacks. We got a few safety tips from the conductor and brakeman aboard the train and then we were off to start the adventure.
