5 Things to Know About the Gateway Auto Museum
For anyone who loves classic automobiles, the Gateway Auto Museum is a must-see attraction in western Colorado.
During the car show season we get to see lots of classic cars and trucks. We dream about owning one of these beauties, and, in some cases, we relive memories of days gone by when these autos were new.
But, western Colorado is home to an awesome collection of vehicles that represent over 100 years of automobile history. Tourists love the museum, but tons of residents on the western slope are missing out on this great experience right in their own backyard.
If you are one of those individuals who hasn't made the trek to Gateway to see the auto museum, check out these five things to know about the Gateway Auto Museum. Next thing you know you'll be on Highway 141 on your way to Gateway.

Hendricks Collecton
The museum features the Hendricks Collection, owned by John Hendricks, founder of the Discovery Channel in 1985. More than 50 of his vehicles are on display at any given time. They are rare, classic, and pristine. The most expensive automobile, a 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Concept Car was purchased for $3 million.

Themed Galleries
In addition to the main gallery, there are four-themed galleries including a Racing Gallery, American Muscle Gallery, a Hollywood High Style Gallery, and a Mass Mobility Gallery, featuring cars from the early 1900s.

Museum Store
The Gateway Auto Museum features a Museum Store selling clothing, gifts, souvenirs, and books including The Performing Art of the American Automobile, which features the Gateway car collection in full-color images.

Tickets
Tickets for the museum are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and FREE for kids 12 and under. It's recommended you allow two hours for your visit.

Location
The Gateway Auto Museum is located in Gateway, about an hour southwest of Grand Junction on the scenic Highway 141. It's a beautiful drive, and it's not that far away.
