5 Reasons to Take Grand Junction Student Public Safety Academy
Enrollment is open now for the Grand Junction Police Department's fun and engaging Student Public Safety Academy. Here are five reasons why you should consider participating.
The academy is coming up this summer. The enrollment deadline has been extended through May 24, so don't let this opportunity pass you by. Several of my friends have participated, and they say it's one of the best things they've ever done.
Are you thinking about a career in law enforcement? Do you simply want to learn more about police work? This interactive experience covers a number of topics including:
- K9 demonstrations
- Crime Scene Investigation Scenarios
- Hands-on Driving Techniques
- Firearms Training Simulations
- Physical Ability Training Course Challenges
- DUI Detection Demonstration and Simulation
These are my top five reasons why you should join:
- It's a closer look at a potential career path you may want to consider
- Get a deeper understanding of police work and the day to day lives of those in law enforcement
- Build a stronger appreciation for law enforcement
- It's a better investment of your summer time-off than hanging around the mall
- Everyone I know who has ever taken this course says it's one of the best things they've ever done.
The class is limited to 15 students. The Academy runs from June 10 -13, 2019. What do you need to do in order to participate?
- Applicants must be between the ages of 16-20
- Applicants must complete a sports physical with a physician prior to acceptance
- Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license
You can apply online, or get paper forms at the Grand Junction Police Department at 555 Ute Avenue.
