There are several new job listings this month, everything from grounds keeping to law enforcement. Regardless of your background, these new listings are worth a look. Here's a quick rundown of the job positions and their compensation.

    Plant Electrician

    $23.71 - $26.17 Hourly

    What responsibilities does this job entail? According to the City of Grand Junction's website:

    Repair, maintain, and upgrade treatment plant, electrical systems, and instrumentation; troubleshoot, diagnose, and calibrate electrical and electronic equipment and systems; research, test, and order parts required for system maintenance; install new electrical wiring with correct fittings, devices, and code requirements; maintain, test, and repair all heating systems, temperature controls, gas values, airflow switches, and plumbing; weld cracked or broken parts; design, layout, and fabricate new structures; operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, trucks, and other equipment; respond to plant problems and emergencies including after hours and on weekends as required; perform other duties of a similar level or nature.

    What about education and training?

    Associate's degree from an accredited institution with coursework in electrical technology or related field supplemented with two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, systems, and components.

    Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker - Horticulture

    $10.20 - $15.74 Hourly

    • Maintenance of flower and shrub beds; including but not limited to hand pulling and chemical control of weeds, fertilization, pruning and shaping of landscape plants, and pest control

    The City of Grand Junction offers full-time and part-time spring/summer seasonal positions.  Duties, work schedule, hours and length of the season depends on the area of assignment. Areas of assignment could include Forestry, Suplizio Field/Stocker Stadium, Parks Operations, and/or Weed Abatement.

    Qualifications needed include a high school diploma and a Colorado driver's license (or the intention to get one).

    Do you love to play tennis? Would you like to teach tennis? Okay, you won't get rich on this one, but it would certainly be fun.
