I'm from Wisconsin. We do have thistles and other thorny type vegetation, but nothing like these!

According to an internet search:

Tribulus terrestris, is an annual plant in the Caltrop Family widely distributed around the world, that is adaptive to grow in dry climates in which few other plants can survive. It is an invasive species in North America that has many names including goathead, devil's weed, puncture vine, tackweed, bindii among others.

Apparently, they live across the street from my house in an empty lot. They also LOVE to attach themselves to my shoes and take the free ride inside where my bare feet have been pierced by these needle-like thorny things so many times that I have to create new curse words whenever I step on one.

What else do I have to watch out for here in Grand Junction that I didn't have in Wisconsin? Comments.
