Stay Frosty: Winter Weather Preparedness Week Has Arrived in Grand Junction Colorado
While many of the higher elevations have seen their first snowfalls in October, many of us in the rest of the state will soon be seeing winter weather.
October 18th through the 23rd is Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Colorado and it's our chance to review storm preparations with our families and coworkers before the snow arrives.
Winter Prep Week is a great time to do things like change out your windshield wipers and check your headlights and brake lights. Checking tire treads and brakes before winter weather arrives is always a good idea also.
Knowing Weather Terminology Before Winter Arrives
In addition to preparing your home and your car for winter, it's also a good time to review terminology from the National Weather Service in relation to weather watches and warnings. Reviewing this info now will help you remember what to do if a winter weather watch, warning, or advisory is issued for your area.
The photo gallery below reviews all of the winter watches and warnings regularly used by the National Weather Service each winter.
