Grand Junction movie theaters have hosted a number of "disaster" movies over the decades. Who can forget the awesome experience of seeing, or better yet, hearing and feeling, the movie Earthquake at the old Cinema 25 off North Avenue? What would consider to be the best disaster movie to hit the silver screen in Grand Junction?

Word on the street is the newest "disaster" movie, San Andreas, is just that, a rolling disaster. It seems as if Holllyweird is trying to take it up a notch with each subsequent movie.

Back in the good old days, we had movies like The Poseidon Adventure, where a boat gets turned upside down, and then everybody tries to get out. Plots were a little bit simpler, but the movies were considerably better.

When Earthquake! made its way to the Cinema 25, which may still have been the called the Jerry Lewis Theater at that time, everybody in a one-mile radius new about it. The theater actually shook! It was cool.
