When one wishes to do the "Downward Dog," where's the best place to do it? Western Colorado is all about Yoga. As a matter of fact, this may very well be the Yoga capitol of the world. If one is inclined to do Yoga, where's the best place to go in Grand Junction?

Seriously, Yoga studios are popping up on every corner in this town. No matter where you are, a friendly neighborhood Yoga studio is somewhere in reach.

This, of course, is a good thing. According to the American Osteopathic Association, there are several legitimate health benefits associated with Yoga:

  • Increased flexibility
  • Increased muscle strength and tone
  • Improved respiration, energy, and vitality
  • Maintaining a balanced metabolism
  • Weight reduction
  • Cardio and circulatory health
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Protection from injury

Over the years, I've participated in a number of Yoga classes. I'm pleased to say I've never seen a bad one yet. The instructors are informed, experienced, and passionate about their craft.

According to YELP!, these are Grand Junction's top 10 Yoga studios:

  • 10. Monument Yoga
  • 9. Crossroads Fitness
  • 8. Dance Works
  • 7. Academy of Yoga
  • 6. Core Elements
  • 5. Yoga West Collective
  • 4. Body Shock Barre and Tone
  • 3. Mind Body Yoga
  • 2. Gold's Gym
  • 1. Yoga Vinyassa

When it's all said and done, if a person wanted to participate in a Yoga class, where would you recommend they go? This could be a Yoga studio, a class at a local health club, or a program through the university or city programs. This poll includes surrounding areas, including Clifton, Palisade, and Fruita.

Cast your vote. If you don't see your choice on the list, write it in, and it will be added promptly.
