Several Western Colorado musicians will be joining together on Thursday, May 8 to present an evening of music by French composer Claude Bolling, with all proceeds going to a local music scholarship.

Claude Bolling made musical history with his compositions combining Jazz and Classical music. His "Suite For Flute and Piano" combined Baroque and Swing, and spent two years at the top of the Hit Parade in the United States. The same composition spent 530 weeks on the Billboard top 40. If you stop and think about that, 530 weeks is a little over ten years.

The upcoming concert at the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall features both the "Suite for Flute and Piano" and "Concerto for Classical Guitar and Jazz Piano."

The evening's performance will feature Javier De Los Santos and guitar, Amy Markakis on piano, Shelley Warren on flute, Dr. Darin Kamstra on drums,  Dr. Arthur Houle on piano, Rob Labig on drums, and Waylon Jordan on bass.

Downbeat is 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 8th, at the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

All proceeds from this concert go directly towards the Robert "Bob" Grant Memorial Scholarship, a tuition and fees music award to Colorado Mesa University.
