If you're traveling Western Colorado's I-70 this week, be ready for reduced speed limits, single lanes, and in many cases, closures. Here's the breakdown.

From August 20 through 24, crews will be closing certain points along I-70 for rockfall mitigation work. According to CDOT, traffic will be impacted in the following ways at eastbound Exit 47 and westbound Exit 62.

  • 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 and Tuesday, Aug. 21 - The right lane of I-70 will be closed in both directions. Expect 20-minute traffic holds with delays.
  • 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 22 - Both directions of I-70 will be closed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Expect 20-minute traffic holds with delays.
  • 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 and Friday, Aug. 24 - The right lane of I-70 will be closed in both directions. Expect 20-minute traffic holds with delays.

Throughout the project, motorists can expect a 14-foot width restrictions. Please keep your eyes open for reduced speed limits, too.

Take it easy on I-70 this week. Please keep an eye out for construction workers and observe the reduced speed limits. This is a relatively short project in the grand scheme of things. Let's make it a safe one.
