Grand Junction's annual food drive for the Community Food Bank was a tremendous success and continues to generate donations even beyond the December 31 deadline.

Residents of Western Colorado were issued a challenge by Carville's Automart, The Art Bar, Western Metals Recycling, and Townsquare Media, to donate 20,000 pounds of non-perishable food, and $10,000 in cash. These sponsoring businesses backed up the challenge by matching the public's donations.

Broadcasters from Townsquare Media did several live remotes from Albertson's at 12th and Orchard, as well as Carville's Automart at 25 Road and Highway 6&50, where they collected donations and spread the word about the food drive.

The push for donations ran for the bulk of December and wrapped up on December 31. However, since that time, generous donations have continued to roll in. Even as recent as January 4, a $100 donation by check arrived by hand at the Townsquare studios.

These donations are being delivered to the Community Food Bank daily. As of this time, Tuesday, December 5, the sponsors are no longer matching incoming donations. You can, however, make donations of food or cash at the Community Food Bank. Please keep in mind, the food bank will be moving to its new location very soon.

Thanks to all of Western Colorado, as well as Carville's Automart, The Art Bar, and Western Metals Recycling, for making the annual food drive a tremendous success. All donations stay local, serving families in Western Colorado.
