High winds in Colorado Springs downed five power poles, with live wires hitting a vehicle and closing down Powers Blvd on Wednesday.

The loss of those power lines had caused many issues along the stretch of road in Colorado Springs, including intersections normally monitored by traffic lights.

CDOT would like to remind drivers that whenever you come up to an intersection where the signal lights are not working, to treat is as though it were a four-way stop and continue accordingly.

All southbound lanes on Powers were closed yesterday as well as all east and westbound lanes of Stetson Hills Blvd.

Two schools and a church closed for the day as well yesterday due to a lack of power.

The roads have since reopened, but drivers in that area are cautioned that high winds remain in the area.

No one was hurt in the incident yesterday.
