Video Visiting Senior Care Facilities in the Grand Valley
This past weekend was beautiful with lots of sunshine to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday. But on Saturday there was a fun event we were lucky enough to be apart of and that was the Honk for Hope parade being put on by the Alzheimer's Association.
It was a collection of people in their vehicle with fun decorations or signs with fun messages or words of inspiration for not only the people living in the care facilities but the caregivers too.
Once we all gathered we split up in two groups, one group headed toward Palisade, another headed toward Fruita. The goal was to drive by as many senior care facilities as possible honking the horns on our vehicles in a show of support for everyone during this difficult time with almost total isolation for those in a care facility due to being at high risk.
After stopping by the first care facility and seeing the smile on people's faces as we waved and made a ton of noise there was no place on earth I would have rather been. And each care facility got us to drive by a minimum of two times so there was plenty of time for people to come outside and wave and take a picture of the vehicles driving by.
The parade was extra fun as Savannah and I brought our dogs Koda and Gypsy along with us. They were the attention-getters as we drove by each time. Check out the video below as we say hi to one group of seniors who all came out to greet us for the drive-by show of support.
