It is absolutely imperative you attend a Country concert at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheater sometime during 2016. There are several incredible shows coming to the venue, so this shouldn't be hard. If you need someone to twist your arm a little, here you go. These are my top five reasons why you simply MUST attend a Country show at Red Rocks.

Country superstar Tim McGraw stated not long ago his favorite venue on the planet is Red Rocks. Keep in mind, Tim McGraw is the guy who married Faith Hill, so he obviously has discerning taste.

Let's take a look at the Country and Bluegrass acts coming to Red Rocks in 2016.

  • JJ Grey & Mofro and the Infamous Stringdusters - May 6
  • Elephant Revival - May 22
  • Dwight Yoakam - June 11
  • Greensky Bluegrass - July 23
  • The Avett Brothers - July 28, 29, 30
  • Grace Potter - August 19
  • My Morning Jacket - May 28, 29
  • Blackberry Smoke - August 25

If you need a little convincing, check out these top five reasons why you should catch a Country show at Red Rocks:

  1. Most any artist will tell you Red Rocks is the brass ring they had their sights set on when making it to the big time.
  2. It's impossible to imagine a more ideal outdoor venue
  3. Between concerts you can take in a Yoga class
  4. Red Rocks is one of the best run venues in the nation... the place runs like clockwork
  5. It doesn't get any better than Country music in magnificent outdoor Colorado

Between you and me, there is another Country act coming to Red Rocks, a major headliner no less, and they are scheduled to play a couple of dates. I cannot specify the artist or dates at this time, primarily because I'm not supposed to know about it.

If driving from Grand Junction, the distance to Red Rocks is 232 miles, just a hop, skip, and jump down the road. Travel time comes in at 3 hours and 37 minutes, assuming you don't get stuck behind a flat-lander who can't handle the passes.

Don't let 2016 go by without taking in a Country show at one of the best venues in the nation. Make your way to Red Rocks, take a Yoga class, and then check out a Country concert the way they were meant to be played.
