Western Slope On Tap is coming to town with over 100 craft beers. Why should one choose a craft beer over popular brands of domestic brews? Here are five reasons why.

First off, let's make a distinction between a craft beer and a major producer. According to Top Of The Hops, a brew is designated a craft beer if less than two million barrels are produced annually. In addition, only 25% of a craft brewery can be owned or controlled by an alcoholic beverage industry member.

Once you've decided to sample a craft beer, you'll notice five things that separate them from a mass produced brew:

  • Better ingredients
  • Higher alcohol content
  • Less is more - you will drink far fewer craft beers to get the same punch as you would from a domestic draft.
  • With craft beers, you're supporting small business.
  • They simply taste better - craft beers taste like beer, not water.

Make plans to sample over 100 craft beers when Western Slope On Tap comes to the Mesa Country Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 14, from 2:30 to 6:00.

Don't drink and drive! Ride the shuttle provided by Suds Brothers Brewery. While you're sampling your craft beers, sit back and enjoy live music from Western Colorado's "Williams Brothers Band."
