Tim McGraw Urges Fans to Help Flood Victims in His Home State of Louisiana
Tim McGraw is the latest country artist to ask for assistance in the form of donations to help flood relief in Louisiana. The country singer posted a heartfelt video to Twitter on Monday (Aug. 22), urging fans to help.
"My home state of Louisiana has been devastated for the second time this year by terrible floods," McGraw says in a short black and white clip. "Please join the relief effort by donating to many worthwhile causes."
The video ends with the message: "Love and support Louisiana."
McGraw isn't the only country act asking for support in the aftermath of the Louisiana floods. Meghan Linsey, former runner up on The Voice requested items to donate last week, and she even drove them to Louisiana.
Linsey also created a GoFundMe page with the goal to raise $100,000 for Louisiana flood victims.
“As a Louisiana native and a hometown Ponchatoula girl, it is with a heavy heart that I am starting this GoFundMe page,” she writes. “As you have probably seen on the news, southeast Louisiana was ravaged by, what they are calling the 500 year flood, over the weekend. Most families lost their entire homes, cars, EVERYTHING!”
Taylor Swift also recently donated $1 million to assist in Louisiana, and Garth Brooks encouraged fans to join the efforts via the American Red Cross or Salvation Army.
