Entry & Lateral Firefighter

Grand Junction Fire Department Firefighters work under the general supervision of a Fire Captain and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls. They work with their assigned station crew to provide basic life support care; perform all phases of fire suppression and fire prevention duties to protect life and property; provide emergency rescue including Hazardous Materials, Technical Rope, Swift Water, Confined Space, Trench, and Hazardous Device (bomb); operate, maintain, and inspect emergency response equipment and vehicles; and perform station maintenance.
Qualifications include:
- Lateral candidates must have successfully completed a fire academy and have a minimum of 3 years of experience at a paid career department upon application
- Colorado EMT certificate OR National Registry EMT certificate on or before September 1, 2018
- CPR certificate on or before September 1, 2018
- Colorado Driver's License or ability to obtain
- Must be able to distinguish between red and green
- Minimum vision 20/30
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age – at time of hire

Fire Prevention Specialist
$32.75 - $36.15 hrAccording to the City of Grand Junction's official webpage, the ideal candidate for this job will have:
Experience in a government, hospital or other large organization with responsibility for performing fire and life safety inspections, plan reviews and enforcement activities. A candidate possessing ICC Fire Plans Examiner, State of Colorado Fire Inspector III – Plan Examiner, and State of Colorado Fire Suppression – Plan Reviewer certificates at the time of application is highly desirable. Fire service experience is preferred.
