Three Fall Weekend Getaways in Four Hours or Less
Your next fall weekend getaway in Colorado is less than four hours away! Soaking in the hot springs or waking up to Red Rocks is all within four hours of you.
Ouray is less than two hours away and is called "The Switzerland of America." This place is surrounding by mountains and is also known as "The Jeeping Capital of the World." National parks, steam trains, and Native American ruins make for a lot to explore. Although there is a public pool with natural hot springs water in Ouray, Box Canyon Lodge is one the few places with hot springs on site.
Copper Mountain is just a little over two and a half hours from Grand Junction. Many of the mining claims can still be seen on the mountain. In 2001, Center Village was completed with 250 lodging units and bars, restaurants and shops. The lifts are only a short walk away, just like the dining and shopping. I love Burning Stones Plaza, looks like a good place to keep warm and cozy.
Cliff House Lodge in Morrison has been around since 1864. This place is a gorgeous Bed & Breakfast and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Red Rocks is conveniently located across the street. Morrison is a little less than four hours from Grand Junction. Hot tubs and fireplaces in romantic cottages with Red Rocks as your backdrop make this a perfect fall weekend getaway.
