Thousands of People Expected to Attend Comic Con in Grand Junction

The Mesa County Libraries Comic-Con isn't for everyone, but it's definitely for everyone who goes.

Typically, around 5,000 people attend the Mesa County Libraries Comic Con in Grand Junction. The event is so broad in what it offers, it attracts people of all ages with a wide variety of interests.

When you hear the term "Comic-Con" your mind might immediately go to comic books. Comics are certainly a part of Comic-Con, but, in reality, it's so much more.

For starters, Comic-Con features a number of vendors featuring artists, crafts, cosplay,  and more. There will be organized cosplay contests for kids, teens, and adults.

There is a schedule of fandom meetups, where people with common interests and shared fandom can get together to talk about their particular fascination whether it's Start Wars, Hary Potter, Stranger Things, or more generic subjects.

There is also a number of panel presentations on a variety of topics including role-playing games, board game design, cosplay, comics, and several others.

This year's Comic-Con is Saturday, October 12 at Two Rivers Convention Center. Admission is $5, or free if you have a Mesa County Libraries card. For some Grand Valley residents, this is the best day of the year.
