Soon after stepping off the ACM Awards stage on Sunday (April 7) after performing his current single  "Look What God Gave Her," Thomas Rhett found himself back on stage yet again, this time to accept the award for Male Artist of the Year. Rhett beat out fellow category nominees Dierks Bentley, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban.

"I'm going to give this to Dan + Shay so they can go home with four tonight," Rhett quickly joked as he grasped the award in his hand.

Rhett then, of course, called out his wife Lauren, who sat in the audience beaming over her husband's accomplishments.

"You are smoking hot tonight," Rhett told her.

Rhett then turned his thoughts back to his fellow nominees, who he said are friends of his and people who have shaped his entire career.

"My heart is beating so fast," Rhett said before exiting the stage.

The award just comes one day after Rhett released the music video for his new single, which features his own daughters.

“When we started talking about the music video, it was natural to include Lauren, but I also wanted to include other inspirational women who are doing some amazing things,” said Rhett in a press release about the "Look What God Gave Her" video. “Rather than hire actors for the video we connected with the founder of Love One and her family, the women of Thistle Farms and an incredible artist who also did our art for the single cover to come be featured. Being able to spotlight them and celebrate these strong women along with my wife and daughters was such a special experience.”

Rhett's new album, Center Point Road, is set for release on May 31.
