‘Terminator Genisys’ Star Arnold Schwarzenegger Says ‘Terminator 4’ Sucks
Of the four Terminator films previously released, Arnold Schwarzenegger technically only appeared in three. The iconic actor was too busy, you know, being the Governor of California to make an appearance in McG’s Terminator: Salvation, so his face was digitally placed over a Schwarzenegger-esque body instead. With Terminator Genisys hitting theaters soon, Schwarzenegger has been talking about the franchise a lot, and he has some choice words for Salvation.
In an interview with Good Morning America (via THR), Schwarzenegger talks about the only installment in the franchise with which he wasn’t involved: McG’s Terminator: Salvation, starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. That film wasn’t quite the success fans were hoping for, particularly after the mixed reception of the third film.
Schwarzenegger sits with his co-stars as they excitedly discuss Genisys, and when asked which Terminator film was the best, the actor responds pragmatically:
I think that the three that I was in, they all three had their own little personalities and interesting storylines.
But when asked about 2009's Salvation, Schwarzenegger is a little less kind:
Thank God. It sucked.
He’s definitely not mincing words or pulling any punches there. Everything we’ve seen so far from Genisys has been a bit underwhelming, but if Schwarzenegger thinks it’s a good movie, we still have some hope, right? Then again, are we going to hear him proclaim this one sucks 10 years down the road? We’ll see.
Terminator Genisys also stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and J.K. Simmons, and hits theaters on July 1.
