Are you worried about the safety of your kids? Come to "Stranger Danger: A Parents Guide to Teaching Their Children."

Because of the disappearance and death of Jessica Ridgeway in Westminster this month, safety is on the minds of parents across the country, including here in the Grand Valley.

Crime Stoppers of Mesa County and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office are offering a free class for parents in an effort to help them teach their children useful safety tips.

Community Outreach Deputy Chad Williams of the Sheriff's Office is teaching the October class “Stranger Danger: A Parent's Guide to Teaching Their Children.” and it's free and open to parents with children of all ages.

This class will review the basics every parent should share with their kids when it comes to safety around strangers and defending themselves and will give parents tools and resources for teaching their own kids safety techniques and children are welcome to attend.

The class will be held at Two Rivers Convention Center on Thursday, October 25th at 7:30 p.m. No reservation is required to attend.

For additional information, the public can contact Deputy Williams at (970) 255-3983.
