Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction to Benefit Diabetes Counts 3/15
Come experience Little Italy during the Diabetes Counts Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction Friday March 15th at Community Hospital Le Bistro Cafe!
Diabetes Counts, a local support group, is an awareness and mentoring group created for type 1 diabetics from Kindergarten to 12th grade and their families.
The goal of the group is:
- For the community at large to understand more about type 1 diabetes
- For kindergarten to 12th grade type 1 diabetics to; get to know, help and enjoy one another through local events and mentoring
- Finally, that the families of these type 1 diabetics will also receive support from local professionals and one another
This dinner is an opportunity to raise funds for the first annual "Family Type 1 Camp".
At Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je on Aug 1-3,2013 for Type1 families will have a professional speaker and focus on type 1 and family team building, camping, sports, and behaviors.
Type 1 is one of the fastest growing diseases in the world and is not caused by metabolism issues like with type 2 but by genes and environmental triggers. It is life threatening but manageable with all of the new knowledge, technology and insulin available today.
Cost is:
- $10 for adults
- $5 for children under 12
- $25 for families
and includes spaghetti with meatballs and your choice of 2 sauces, bread, salad, assorted desserts and water tea or coffee.
