While searching through thousands of Robert Grant photos, it became obvious that almost every photo had one thing in common: the majority of people photographed were wearing hats. Granted, that may have been common place, but it's still interesting to see on film. Take a look at photos of Western Colorado residents of yesteryear, and their stylish headgear.

Sure, people still wear hats: the occasional baseball cap, a hard hat, even a cowboy hat from time to time. Presently, though, they are not necessarily a day to day accessory.

Looking at these photos of Western Colorado residents of the 1940, 50's, and 60's, it seems a person wore a chapeau to do even the most menial task. If a person went outside to rake leaves out of their yard, they had a hat. It seems as if in most cases, each particular task had a particular hat to go with it.
