I had the pleasure of sitting down with Gretchen Wilson at Country Jam. I've been a fan since middle school! I was happy that we talked family music and Heart.

I remember singing and dancing along to "Redneck Woman" at every birthday party and dance at middle school. Gretchen wrote the song for the everyday woman out there, and that includes me. She talked about about how the gals from Heart are not only an inspiration, but friends as well.

Her last album was in 2013 and the latest was just released. She took some time to raise her daughter and is back and rowdy! The album "Rowdy" makes a statement that is true to her character. She has always leaned toward the traditional, country-rock style.

Whether you want to call it her anthem or comeback, the single "Rowdy" says "it's been a long time comin', pour 'em steady, strong and heavy, yeah, resurrect me." The redneck woman has been (musically resurrected) Gretchen took some time for herself but never went anywhere. Gretchen Wilson is a woman who stays true and takes pride in her redneck roots, that's why I'll always be a fan.
