Buying a Larger Pizza Will Save You Money

More dough can save you more dough!

Pizza is supposed to be a simple, fun and tasty food. But, the people at Planet Money and GrubHub have put some serious math and science behind the Italian pie and the results are staggering.

Do you realize that a standard 12-inch pizza is more than twice the size of an 8-inch pie? Not to confuse you too much, but because it is round, the surface area of that pizza increases with its radius.

Think about this next time you are ordering at any one of these Grand Junction pizza places.

So, with that thought, a 16-inch pizza is not simply double the size of an 8 inch. It  is actually four times as large! But, probably that many more calories as well.

According to this study, take a standard 24-inch pie. Average US price around $24.93. To equal that area, you would need to order THREE 14-inch pizzas at a cost of $42.31 or NINE 8-inch pies at a whopping $74.25.

So as you can see more dough saves you more dough. Enjoy!
