In January of 2019, the Denver Zoo shared some exciting news: that their African penguins planned to relocate to a new habitat.

This new home will be in Benson Predator Ridge, which is close to the main entrance of the zoo. They'll be located beside several other African species, including lions, wild dogs, and hyenas. Later this month, construction on the new habitat will officially begin.

According to the Zoo's website, the habitat will be 2,700 square feet, three times larger than their current home in Bird World. There will be a 10,000 gallon pool, nest boxes, and other features that mimic their natural habitat in Africa.

We can't wait to visit the penguins at their new habitat!
