Everybody knows about the corn eating contests that happen at the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival-- after all, it is all about the corn. Even if you aren't up for stuffing your face with corn on the cob at a high rate of speed, you still get all the delicious sweet corn you can eat.
The gates on Saturday open at 10:00 a.m. and festival attendees will enjoy games and activities for all ages, including a climbing wall and a petting zoo.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for kids 11 and under, and no charge for kids 2 and under. Advance tickets are available at Alpine Bank locations in Montrose, Delta, and Grand Junction or online.
Wine gets a lot of attention here in western Colorado, but I'm thankful for the focus on Olathe Sweet Corn. That delicious sweet corn is something I look forward to every summer, and it's definitely worth celebrating.
