Dogs are a source of one of life's greatest joys, but an ill-timed barking dog in Grand Junction can be a most annoying experience.

You've Been There, Done That

I'm sure you've been there. You've crawled into the comfort of a warm, soft bed - exhausted at the end of the day. Eagerly you anticipate the peaceful and restful slumber that will refresh you and re-energize you for another day. Your body begins to relax,  you're just moments from drifting into dreamland when all of a sudden the silence is pierced by the sound of your neighbor's dog barking excitedly under the cover of darkness. One minute of barking becomes two, then it's five, ten, and maybe 30 minutes or more of continual barking. That much-needed sleep eludes you. Irritation begins to set in.

In Mesa County, nuisance barking is considered to be 30 minutes of unprovoked barking in a 24-hour period. You can file a complaint and a warning will be issued along with some educational information. If the problem persists, you can provide video or audio evidence of "unprovoked, nuisance barking."
