Norwood School Closed Today After Threat Against Students
Paradox Valley School is closed today after a threat was called into the school yesterday.
San Miguel County Sherrif's received a call from a woman in Norwood yesterday, stating that, after a "personal conversation with God" she decided to call and let them know her relatives were on the way to the school to shoot children.
Although the threat was not deemed to be credible, the woman was arrested and will meet with mental health professionals.
The threat occurred Thursday morning and parents were contacted.
Paradox, Colo. is a charter school in the town of Paradox, near the Utah border. Students who were already at school when the threat came in were placed on lock-down yesterday, while students who were en route on school buses were sheltered in place until their parents could pick them up.
While the threat was deemed to not be credible, authorities determined the best case for the safety of the children were to treat it as though it were. No one was harmed, no shots were fired, but the school has decided to keep students home for the day.
