There is push for a new law for domestic abuse victims. A group in Colorado wants legislators to create "Safe Time."

This law would allow domestic abuse victim time off work to escape from that abuse.

Fox31 reports that Safe Time would be incorporated into the paid family medical leave bill, which was defeated in the Colorado Senate during the last legislative session.

Domestic abuse victims often can't escape their situation for financial reasons, and this policy could give them a fair chance at starting over.

According to Violence Free Colorado, over 60% of survivors report losing their job because of domestic violence.

A public comment period for the bill is open until September 25.
