A 16-year-old boy reported missing from Cortez since April 6 has been found. William Gallegos was located safe and sound last night (Wednesday, April 11) at 8:41 p.m.

Police began searching for William Gallegos, 16,  last Friday evening. While authorities never believed him to be in danger, they said attempts to contact family and friends had been unsuccessful.

According to The Journal, Lt. Andy Brock confirmed the boy was found safe in Midland, Texas, at 8:41 p.m. Wednesday.

Cortez, Colorado to Midland, Texas, isn't exactly a quaint little stroll down the road. Google Maps puts the trek at 654 miles and just over ten hours driving time, depending on which route you take.

Regardless of how he got all the way to Texas, the good news is he is safe.
