According to the website mothering.com, messy is becoming the norm.

This was an interesting experiment done by a woman named Megan. At first, there was a lot of resistance from her friends and family when asked to submit pictures of rooms in their homes on a 'normal' day. Not sure I would and I am definitely sure that Riley would not.

After a lot of prodding begging and pleading, Megan had enough photos to put together this article and photo spread.

So, is 'Messy The New Black?' Probably not. From what we learned in the article, these rooms were not decorated like this on purpose. It is just an effect of raising a family and living life as we know it today. We all have so many irons in the fire, in addition to the way social media now dominates our every move. There are only so many hours in a day.

Here's what Megan came up with by conducting this experiment:

  • People don't really want to share pictures of their homes
  • All of our homes look messy most of the time
  • Everyone feels a little guilty about it
