Mesa Verde Gets Its Own Specialty Plates
If you love The Mesa Verde National Park, now you can show the world.
It's one of Colorado's great National Parks. In 2020 you'll be able to support the park and show your pride with special license plates. That now leaves just The Great Sand Dunes and The Black Canyon of the Gunnison without their own cool plates.
Back in May, Governor Jared Polis signed Colorado House Bill 19-1255 into law making the Mesa Verde National Park commemorative license plates a thing. To get the cool new plates on your ride you'll need to pay two additional fees of $25 each, plus and make a donation to an additional nonprofit organization. That other nonprofit will be selected by the Department of Revenue.
A visit to the Mesa Verde National Park is still on my 'to do' list. I plan to get there later this summer. The park was established in 1906 "to preserve and interpret the archaeological heritage of the Ancestral Pueblo people who made it their home for over 700 years, from 600 to 1300 CE." Plan to visit as many of Colorado's amazing National an State Parks as you can. They're truly treasures deserving of our support.
