It's finally happening. The Six Million Dollar Man comes to the big screen, and Mark Wahlberg is the perfect choice to play Steve Austin.

In today's world of movie remakes and TV shows being re-birthed on the big screen we shouldn't be surprised that The Six Million Dollar Man is coming to the big screen. What is surprising is that it took 36 years for it to happen.

From 1973 to 1978, my Friday nights were highlighted by Lee Majors playing the bionic man - the astronaut who had to be re-built after a horrific accident. The new and improved Steve Austin featured two bionic legs, a bionic arm, and a bionic eye. Of course, the cost of  bionic parts has gone up significantly since the 70s, which means the big-screen re-boot will actually be called The Six Billion Dollar Man. Apparently six million dollars just won't buy what it used to.

According to deadline.com, Mark Wahlberg will play the bionic man, Steve Austin, in the big screen update, and he seems to be the perfect choice. Never mind that Wahlberg is fantastic in just about everything he does including a couple of more recent efforts like Lone Survivor, and The Fighter. The fact that he appears to be in good condition  physically  will make his role as Steve Austin that much more believable.

Look for The Six Billion Dollar Man to hit theaters in 2016. It has the potential to be really good - hopefully it's worth the wait.
