A man is recovering after being bitten by a Rattlesnake at Dog Park in Jefferson County.

Rattlesnakes usually hibernate in the winter months in dens then in the Springtime they become active in April and May. Rattlesnakes love trails anywhere they can bask in the sun. That is why it is so important for you if you are hiking to watch where you step as they could be lurking right below your feet. When the snakes become warm enough they will head out and hunt for food usually early afternoon or night.

If you are bitten by a snake move away slowly the snake and get help and try to remain calm. Call 911 for more information on how to treat a bite from a Rattlesnake click here.
