A 48-year-old man has been arrested after accusations of threatening hospital staff and spitting in the face of a doctor at a Greeley hospital.

On March 16, the Greeley Tribune reports that police responded to a report of a man threatening a family on 8th Avenue in Evans.

According to one of the victims, Robert Hastings, 48, was threatening to hit the window of their pickup truck with a large stick with a horseshoe attached at the end. Hastings said he was scared because the truck stopped and revved its engine. He was taken into custody for violating a restraining order with the make-shift weapon and felony menacing.

In the process of his arrest, Hastings made threats against the arresting officers. March 17th in the early morning he was released from jail on a mental health hold. The Greeley Tribune reports that the doctor who checked him out at North Colorado Medical Center told police that Hastings said he was "going to find (the doctor)" when he gets out, break his knees and kill him.

The doctor went on to say that Hastings spit in his face. As police attempted to get him under control and take him back to jail, he made threats at hospital staff on the way out.

Hastings was again arrested, this time on charges of second-degree assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
