The Colorado Mesa University Art Gallery opens its  season with the exhibit "Longing For Something" by Cyane Rollins Tornatzky.  The showing kicks off with a free public reception from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20th.

Tornatzky, who currently serves as professor of Electronic Art at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, describes these works as an effort to exorcize that longing for something more which

can inevitably undermine our feelings of confidence and satisfaction.  Tornatzky says, “Lately I have been interested in the role of women in our society which in turn has led me to an investigation of ‘home.’ Domestic arrangements have often been left to women, and as a married woman with a small child I find myself fantasizing about a type of domestic reality that is inevitably unattainable. Although I think of myself as impervious to advertising and a need to “keep up with the Joneses.”

Tornatzky will be on hand during the opening reception on Monday, August 20th.  The exhibit is will be held in the art gallery located in the University Center at Colorado Mesa University.  Parking is available at the University Center garage.
