The Grand Junction community and a local business are stepping up to help a local farmer after his farm was vandalized.

Blaine's Tomatoes & Farm was recently struck by vandals, who damaged greenhouses as well as several crops. Farmer Blaine Diffendaffer explained the damage on the farm's Facebook page.

No Coast Sushi in Grand Junction is hosting a fundraiser this Thursday, June 30 to help Blaine's replace the damage. No Coast will donate 20% of their total sales, including alcohol, to Blaine's.

Sushi lovers are invited to participate in the fundraiser Thursday for lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or dinner 5 p.m. to closing. Reservations are recommended which can be made online, or call 970- 255-1097.

It is absolutely horrific that someone would try to destroy the hard work and livelihood of one of our local producers. It is, however, wonderful that our community steps right up to help people in need.
