Little Big Town have debuted their new single "The Daughters," along with a captivating music video directed by Dano Cerny.

The lyrics to "The Daughters" speak about what girls are told throughout their lives — who to be, what to do, how to look.

"Oh girl wash your face before you come to the table / Girl know your place, be willing and able / Take it on the chin  / Let the best man win / Girl shoulders back and stand up straight / Girl watch your mouth and watch your weight / Mind your manners / Smile for the camera," Karen Fairchild croons.

One of the most powerful lyrics of the song is in the refrain: "I've heard of God the son and God the father, I'm still looking for a God for the daughters."

Little Big Town's CMA Fest Performance of "The Daughters" Was Amazing!

The video is set in a dance rehearsal hall, punctuated with female dancers performing in muted lighting while Little Big Town perform the song simply.

The band unofficially debuted the song at the 2019 Country Radio Seminar on Feb. 14 to an emotional and stunned crowd. The song marks the first new music for the band since their summertime hit "Summer Fever."

Did You Know? Little Big Town have been in the studio working on new music, which they are also producing.

Little Big Town's "The Daughters" Lyrics:

Oh girl, wash your face 'fore you come to the table / Girl, know your place, be willing and able / Take it on the chin, let the best man win / Girl, shoulders back and stand up straight / Girl, watch your mouth and watch your weight / Mind your manners, smile for the camera

Chorus:

And pose like a trophy on a shelf / Dream for everyone but not yourself / I've heard of God the Son and God the Father / I'm still looking for a God for the daughters

Girl don't be weak and don't be strong / Say what you want just as long / As you nod your head with your lipstick on

Repeat Chorus

Wash the dishes, feed the kids and clean up all this mess / Do my best, forgive myself and look good in this dress / Damn I look good in this dress

Repeat Chorus
