Fans can now get their first look at Lauren Alaina in the movie Road Less Traveled. MarVista Entertainment has released the film's first trailer; readers can press play above to watch.

Alaina will make her acting debut in Road Less Traveled, a feature-length film written by Michael and Samantha Shear and directed by Blair Hayes. The movie will be released on June 6 via Amazon and iTunes, but it is available for pre-order now.

Set in small-town Harmony, Tenn., Road Less Traveled tells the story of country music singer-songwriter Charlotte, who returns to her rural roots when she struggles to find balance between her upcoming wedding and her career in Los Angeles. Along the path to self-discovery, Charlotte runs into her high school boyfriend, Ray (played by Donny Boaz), and begins to wonder what her life could have been like if she’d never left her hometown.

“I am so excited to be doing a movie,” Alaina says. “This is a whole new world for me ... We have such an awesome cast and crew, and I can’t wait for everyone to see this new side of me.”

Road Less Traveled also stars Jason Burkey and Charlene Tilton. The film was produced by MarVista Entertainment and executive produced by Kristopher McNeely and Fernando Szew. The cast and crew of Road Less Traveled went to Knoxville, Tenn., to film the project, and McNeely says it was an ideal arrangement for both the movie crew and the country music industry.

“As a boy growing up in Oklahoma, country music and its roots in Tennessee were important influences for me," McNeely says. “Hopefully this is just the beginning of a long relationship in the state bringing Tennessee and country music to millions of fans worldwide through film.”

Alaina recently celebrated her first No. 1 single with her song "Road Less Traveled." The tune is also the title track of her most recent album.
