Kenny Chesney Sets Record for Most No. 1s on Billboard Country Airplay Chart
Kenny Chesney hit a milestone when his song "Get Along" reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. Topping the chart was not only an achievement unto itself, but it made Chesney the singer with the most No. 1 hits on that chart.
"Get Along" is the 30th No. 1 song for the country icon on the Country Airplay chart. “I can’t think of a better song to set a record,” says Chesney in a press release about the song, which is an ode to hope and optimism. “Everything it says is everything I think makes the world a better place. To have something that has a groove that feels so good wrapped around a song that reminds us it’s the things that bring us together that will make us happy … When you get right down to it, “Get Along" is a great way to have some pretty important life advice delivered.”
"Get Along" was written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman and Josh Osborne and was the first song shared off of Chesney's Songs for the Saints. The album has been described as Chesney's "most personal album to date." Osborne tells Taste of Country that he and his co-writers weren't "making a conscious decision to write it 'about' the world, but I think the way the world is right now, it's in all of our subconscious and we're all feeling it."
“In some ways, "Get Along" is very different from the rest of Songs for the Saints,” Chesney continues in the release. “But in a lot of ways, it boils down every other subject onto the record – and ties it up with a perfect bit of the euphoria that defines the people of the Saints. It was an obvious choice for radio, but it also embodies everything else on a record which lifts up everything that has inspired my music over the last eighteen years.”
Chesney concludes about his No. 1 song, “This didn’t come from anywhere but my heart, my soul and my concern for a lot of people who’ve given me a lot of their life. When it’s good, lots of people get inspired, get in gear and find their better selves. To start Songs for the Saints this way feels like a really good beginning.”
Chesney recently released a new track, "Better Boat," also off of Songs for the Saints. The full album is due out on July 27. Proceeds from Songs for the Saints will go to benefit Chesney's Love for Love City Foundation, dedicated to relief efforts in the Virgin Islands.
