Kelly Clarkson is opening up about a terrifying health scare that took place on the set of The Voice, just days after she underwent surgery for a burst appendix.

As she previously revealed, 37-year-old Clarkson suffered a burst appendix on May 1 while she was on stage hosting the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. She managed to get through that live show despite the pain, and after undergoing emergency surgery the following day, she healed quickly enough that she was able to be back on set to film The Voice a week later.

But Clarkson's health ordeal was not over yet. She tells People that sudden, extreme pain struck in front of the cameras again during taping of the reality singing contest.

Country Stars Who Have Experienced Tragedy

Blake [Shelton] was talking to me and all of the sudden, everything he said just went away and I had to grab his arm and I was like, ‘Something is wrong,'" Clarkson shares.

Clarkson was once again rushed to the emergency room, where she jokes that it was so busy that she had to try to use her celebrity status to secure a room. “I was like, ‘Anyone a fan? Can someone help me get a hospital room?’” she recounts.

It turned out that Clarkson had suffered a burst cyst on her ovary, and she says that it was worse, both physically and emotionally, than what she went through with her appendix.

“That was more painful than the appendicitis,” she shares, adding, “It was literally a week after my surgery so I was freaking out!”

Clarkson says that she was “hysterically laughing and crying at one point in the E.R.," but she came out the other end of both health scares with flying colors, she adds.

“I’m great now," she assures People. "I’m totally great now.”

Clarkson is set to launch her new syndicated talk show, the Kelly Clarkson Show, on Sept. 9 on NBC.
