Kane Brown brought R&B artist Khalid to the 2019 ACM Awards for a cross-genre performance. The two teamed up for a live performance of their "Saturday Nights" remix at the Sunday night (April 7) awards show.

Brown, sporting a blue varsity jacket, started with a solo performance of "Good as You" before inviting Khalid onstage. The two young stars looked comfortable as they traded verses on their "Saturday Nights" remix, not straying the performance far from the recording.

Brown and Khalid are both major rising stars in their respective genres, and this song will unquestionably open more doors to the pop world for Brown. This performance rebounds off of a "super awkward" 2018 ACM performance between Brown and fellow country star (and old schoolmate) Lauren Alaina — one of the most talked-about of the night.

This year's choreography didn't appear as uncomfortable or close.

Brown and Khalid, both Georgia boys, dropped their "Saturday Nights" remix in early January. The song is originally from Khalid's Suncity EP.

"Saturday nights, your works shoes are stilettos / Smell of cheap perfume / Makeup on your face, try to hide the pain / All the lies look like the truth / Deep in your heart, all you want is love / But you never felt good enough / You got wrapped up in other plans / But this ain't the way the story ends," Brown sings before a pleasantly defiant chorus.
