King Henry VIII, the guy who liked to get married a lot, died on this day, January 28th, 1547. Over the course of his life, he managed to get married more than his fair share of times. Strangely, his various wives' heads kept falling off for some reason. Just how nasty was this guy?

It's hard to totally dismiss the guy, since he was such a strong supporter of literature, music, and the arts. That, however, doesn't make this matter of his wives' heads falling off just go away.

Hollywood eventually made a movie about King Henry VIII's escapades. Check out this clip from the movie "The Other Boleyn Girl," starring the girl who wasn't responsible for messing up Star Wars, and the guy who played the Hulk.

When it is all said and done, history gives him credit for establishing a strong English Navy, and Protestants liked him for splitting with Rome. Catholics, on the other hand, resented it.

On the negative side, though, history blames him for the dissolution of the Monasteries, some of which were very nice. Not only that, but many considered him to be a very immoral leader. Then of course, on the extreme end of things, is this matter of having innocent people executed. Not nice. Some sources put the number of people he had executed at around 70,000.
