Crime happens all of the time in Colorado, and one of the most famous and gruesome recent crimes involving a mortuary mishandling of human remains took place in Pueblo.

However, it was a much less serious crime that took place in the same city that was recently picked up by the famous supermarket tabloid, the National Enquirer, and it’s been speculated that this particular story was published by the tabloid because of the perpetrator’s name.

Colorado Man with Famous Name is Arrested in Pueblo

On January 8, 2026, a 52-year-old man named James Taylor, and no, not the famous folk rock singer, was arrested in Pueblo, Colorado, after calling 911 a total of 150 times in one day.

Police were dispatched to Taylor’s home after learning that he had a misdemeanor warrant out for doing something similar - calling 911 and making threats and/or using obscene language.

While Taylor initially did not allow police to enter his home, he remained on the phone with them and became aggressive, shouting at police from the inside of his home into the night.

Police were eventually given access to Taylor’s home after they informed him of his warrant, at which time the man acted calmly and was taken into custody with no further incident.

Colorado News Source Questions Hypocrisy Over Taylor’s Arrest

After the story was published in the National Enquirer, an online news source known as Pueblo Independent News pointed out possible hypocrisy surrounding Taylor’s arrest, making note that the two men responsible for mishandling human remains at Pueblo’s Davis Mortuary have yet to be charged, much less arrested or even put on ankle monitors, for a seemingly much higher offense.
