Unfortunately, it really feels like an excessive amount of businesses across Colorado have been going out of business in recent memory. Boulder's iconic Dark Horse is likely going to be demolished, Denver music venue Herman's Hideaway is no more, and historic jazz club El Chapultepec is going to be all but demolished as well.

However, it's not just local staples like these that are closing their doors for good, but national chains with numerous locations in the Centennial State are struggling as well.

It wasn't long ago that we heard about Hooters closing numerous franchises nationwide and now we've heard a similar story from Big Lots. So, will Colorado be affected?

What's Going on with Big Lots + Will Colorado Be Affected?

In case you're not familiar, Big Lots is a chain of discount stores whose prices land somewhere between Walmart and Dollar Tree. Unfortunately, the corporation has seen significant losses in profits in recent years and has decided that the only solution will be to close a number of stores across the country.

To be more specific, an estimated 35 to 40 Big Lots locations will likely be shuttered between now and 2025.

So, will Colorado be affected by these closures?

As of now, Big Lots hasn't commented on which stores will be closed but we do know that the corporation operates over 1,300 locations nationwide, 14 of which are in Colorado.

These stores include locations in Grand Junction, Aurora, Brighton, Greeley, Lakewood, Littleton, Longmont, Pueblo, Westminster, Wheat Ridge, and Colorado Springs.

In other words, Colorado's 14 stores are a drop in the bucket of Big Lots' 1,300 total locations, but whether or not the Centennial State will be affected is yet to be seen.
