Reports have come in that a second wildfire has broken out in Boulder County, Colorado. The Stone Canyon Fire was first reported early Tuesday afternoon.

Mandatory evacuation notices have been issued for the Stone Canyon and Eagle Ridge neighborhoods north of Lyons. Evacuees can go to the Boulder County Fairgrounds at 9595 Nelson Rd in Longmont.

Smoke was first reported in the area around 1:42 p.m. by users on X.

In an X post, Boulder County Sheriff's Office said they have crews that are currently responding to the situation and are asking people to stay out of the area.

This fire is the second wildfire to break out in as many days, with crews battling the Alexander Mountain Fire to the north along US 34.

Update 3 P.M.

A fire evacuation point has been made available at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in the Exhibit Building.

It is located at 9595 Nelson Road, Longmont, Colorado 80501.

Livestock can be evacuated to this location as well as the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden. Small animals can be taken to Humane Society of Boulder Valley.

Update 3:40 P.M.

Per 9News, new evacuation orders have been put into place that includes Blue Mountain and Spring Valley.

Update 3:50 P.M.

Boulder Disaster Management has confirmed that the fire is currently 85 acres and growing.

Multiple different airtankers are dropping fluid on the fire along with 10 firetrucks and wildland vehicles are on the scene.

More resources are in route as well.

Update 5:00 P.M.

The evacuation order has been upgraded to incorporate the Northern part of Lyons, above Highway 36.

Update 6:15 P.M.

Westbound traffic from Highways 36 and 66 (Ute Highway) into Lyons will now be closed.

The size of the fire has increased to 450 acres. The wind will be moving towards the south, which is why they pre-emptively evacuating parts of Lyons.

About 100 people are currently a part of the firefighting efforts for the Stone Canyon Fire.

Update 8:52 P.M.

An Evacuation Warning has been issued for the areas north of Highway 36 in Lyons to Apple Valley Rd (North).

An Evacuation Warning means you should prepare to take action, or should immediately take action if you need to take extra time to mobilize.

Update 10:00 A.M.

The Stone Canyon Fire increased in size last night to 1,320 acres, but has stayed at that size overnight. It is currently burning most intensely in the north east portion, which means that the Evacuation Warning has been lifted for the northern and western parts of Lyons.

Also, the road closure has been lifted for Highway 36 and 66 (Ute Highway).

However, five structures along with one fatality have been reported from the fire.
