The flags have been thrown and it’s a penalty on a navy blue Toyota Tundra pickup and its driver for unnecessary roughness. The driver, 48-year-old Karl Haglund, fled a hit-and-run at Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe Ave just before sunset on Thursday, September 12th.
The driver fled the crash and apparently decided that if he was going down, he was at least going to go down with a bang. Ironically, that was the noise he made as he plowed his way through a gate into Folsom Field, eventually stalling out between the 30 and 40-yard lines, as seen in the pic before from CU Buff Stats on X.
Fortunately, Coach Prime/Deion Sanders, and his University of Colorado Buffaloes are playing on the road this weekend, in Fort Collins at Canvas Stadium. The Rocky Mountain Showdown against the rival Colorado State University Rams is this Saturday, so CU has time to repair the damage done to the stadium and playing surface.
In a statement to CBS 4 in Denver, CU spokeswoman Nicole Mueksch said:
“Every effort will be made to repair the apparent damage that the pickup truck made to the field.”
The good news for CU is that the path the driver took wasn’t through any seating areas so the damage can hopefully be “buffed out” quickly. Here's some footage captured from the hit-and-run just before the CU Stadium incident.

One more weird chain of events with the CU football program, which desperately needs a win this Saturday in Ft. Collins against CSU. If the Rams have anything to say about it though, the bad week for CU will continue. Go Rams!
